He says the Kerikeri packhouse plays an important role in Northland’s horticulture sector, servicing a significant number of local growers and providing seasonal employment within the region and that the installation of the Reemoon grader reinforces Seeka’s longterm commitment to maintaining modern and efficient facilities in Northland. “By improving grading capability and operational efficiency, the investment supports grower returns and strengthens the regional economy linked to kiwifruit production and export,” he says. Huka Pak, located in Mount Maunganui, is also a key site within Seeka’s post-harvest network. Huka Pak handles most of Seeka’s organic and red kiwifruit. Michael says the introduction of the Reemoon graders is part of Seeka’s approach to investing in infrastructure that supports growers from orchard through to market. The installations form part of Seeka’s wider programme of investment across its postharvest network to ensure consistent grading outcomes and operational efficiency as fruit volumes continue to grow. “Continued investment in technology remains central to maintaining efficiency and quality outcomes. “Together, the installations at Huka Pak and Kerikeri strengthen Seeka’s commitment to quality and reinforce the company’s focus on supporting growers with modern, reliable infrastructure.” Seeka was founded in 1980 in Te Puke when a group of local orchardists came together to create better returns for their produce. Michael says the company’s vision laid the groundwork for what would become New Zealand’s largest kiwifruit producer, with operations extending into Australia and global markets. Over the decades, Seeka has expanded beyond growing to provide a full suite of supply chain services, including packhouses, coolstores, and orchard management. Its history is rooted in collaboration from the merger of early kiwifruit initiatives to acquisitions that broadened its reach and expertise. Today Seeka is a publicly listed company known for its focus on quality, safety, and sustainable growth. “As the guardians of more than 1500 hectares of land in New Zealand and Australia, Seeka remains committed to applying industry best practice for land management and using the latest technologies to deliver healthy produce to its clients and consumers.” www.rmt.co.nz E. dispatch@rmt.co.nz P: 07 575 2006 (Mt.
