T T to page 48 Josh Mounter, managing director of Southern Cross Horticulture (SCH), says key to the kiwifruit business’s success has been the control of all aspects in the production supply chain, from the purchase of land, construction of orchard infrastructure and growing their own nursery plants, through to growing the end result. Josh has been in his current role for nearly three years, and prior to this led the company’s construction business. “My role now is to sustain what we have built and invest time into each business unit to ensure each one has what it needs to continue to deliver excellence to the customer,” he says. Southern Cross Horticulture focuses on growing Sun Gold and Ruby Red kiwifruit varieties, and was one of the first kiwifruit businesses to recognise the potential of both. “We operate in three regions now, and offer an end-to-end array of services.
