IPMS REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT E xperience is what sets specialist property and construction consultancy firm IPMS apart. The company offers a small team of experts who bring literally decades of expe- rience to each client’s project, says managing director Wayne Pittams. Wayne started IPMS in 2005 with the aim of starting a company that placed the client front and centre and fully represented their needs. With offices in Tauranga and Auckland, IPMS has since become a force in the region and has been involved in a variety of commercial and residential projects. “No two projects are ever the same and each one offers varying levels of complexi- ty and challenges. The one constant is our approach: A commitment to listening to each client’s needs, to meeting and exceeding client expectations, clear communications through- out and an independent eye across every aspect,” says Wayne. Services include project management, quan- tity surveying and building surveying, individu- ally or collectively to form a multi-disciplinary team. Wayne says that the multi-disciplinary approach means IPMS can manage situations and problems with its combined skill set, rath- er than the traditional single-point approach, to deliver added value outcomes in a timely and cost-effective manner. It’s a personal ap- proach suited to each client’s unique needs. “As a specialised, tight-knit team of senior consultants, our clients only deal with experts in their field. Each one is trained to under- stand and provide advice on technical building issues, building maintenance, project manage- ment of construction projects and construc- tion cost advice,” explains Wayne. The company’s work on a project in Wharf Street, Tauranga is a good example. It in- cluded the demolition of an existing build- ing, significant in-ground works (including archaeological elements) and a complex base design, to combat the unstable elements and a restrictive site. IPMS project managed the planning, construction and earthquake strengthening stages over a 12-month period, until final sign- off and the issuing of a Code of Compliance Certificate. As part of this IPMS liaised with and coordinated the tenants and surrounding businesses, to ensure they could continue their business operations during the construc- tion. It also engaged with an archaeologist dur- ing the forward planning, which Wayne says proved invaluable as it avoided a costly delay of up to 12 weeks versus if the application was made during construction. The company’s vast experience enables the company to take on a range of projects for a variety of clients including body corporates, building owners, tenants, insurers, retailers, developers, contractors, not-for-profit or- ganisations, property managers and lawyers. Sectors include infrastructure/greenfields developments, commercial/retail, seismic strengthening, weathertight remediation, vis- itor and sports centres, aged care and health, education, rural and large residential projects. Past projects completed in the Bay of Plenty include Cutters Cove Resort, Pacific Coast Re- tirement Village and McFall Museum in Mount Maunganui and Otepou School. Wayne says that the Bay of Plenty region is currently extremely busy with projects although the relatively small size of the CBD at present means commercial projects are more limited. IPMS is currently working on a medical centre and several leaky building remediation projects along with a greenfields subdivision that is in the pipeline. Another large project is a proposed kiwifruit farm development in Kerikeri. IPMS is ISO certified in health and safety management (BS OHSAS 18001) and quality management (ISO 9001), which means clients can have peace of mind knowing there clear processes in place to ensure safe, consistent, effective and efficient delivery of service. IPMS works across all regions of the North Island.
