Some of those key projects include the reroof of Crown Plaza Hotel in Auckland, the new Pinnacle Tower at Cordis Hotel, and many apartment complexes across Auckland CBD. “Waterproofing is essential to keeping the building envelope watertight,” explains Craig. “It often involves applying waterproofing membrane (liquid or sheet) to a number of areas including as low as the foundations, to ensure there’s no water ingress through the soil, or as high as the guttering and roofing system. The sheet membrane is a sheet that is either peeled and fixed onto the substrate or torched on with heat and welded on. Alterna- tively, you can also work with liquid mem- branes, which are coated onto a prepared substrate. This system offers more versatility in application however many factors are con- sidered when selecting the right system.
