76 | Focus on people reflected with success at awards T from page 74 Fulton Hogan worked with Waka Kotahi and the Geometria archaeology team to clear vegetation and strategically excavate an area where slip damage on SH10 near Kaeo was threatening an ancient, private grave site. The remains were re-interned to a new site in the Kaeo Cemetery (at left). Fulton Hogan - Whangarei CONTRACTING Keith says Fulton Hogan’s focus on people was clearly demonstrated in the success of Northland branch winner construction engi- neer Freya Coppins taking out the women in contracting award. “Freya has admirably applied her huge knowledge to her 15 years of civil construction experience, from design to contract comple- tion. She works closely with the client and team on site to ensure a quality outcome on every job.” Keith cites her work project managing a 6.5km and a 2.0km seal extension project near Kaitaia for the Far North District Council as a good example. “This PGF-funded shovel-ready seal extension demands pragmatism, creativity, collaboration and accurate implementation, and a design process that is both proven and innovative. Freya is ensuring the 6.5km sealing pro- ject southeast of Kaitaia – a job that would normally take six months in design alone - is completed in just 10 months.” Another stand out staff member – divisional manager Whangarei construction and mainte- nance Jason Walters – took out the leadership award in the competition. Keith says Jason, who has been with Fulton Hogan from the age of 18 and has clocked up 26 years service, is a good example of how with the right attitude anybody can progress through Fulton Hogan and carve out a lifelong career. “Jason has grown from a finance cadet to a divisional manger, now leading a team of over 50 staff. Jason is respected by his team, clients and peers. He has developed high levels of trust and engagement through being a genu- ine person and a genuine leader.” Keith says people are what make the Fulton Hogan difference so he is particularly proud that Freya and Jason were recognised at this year’s awards, as their skills and dedication are reflective of the entire team. “Our people are the most important part of our business. Our team is passionate about the work they do and it is them that enable Fulton Hogan to achieve award winning re- sults for our clients.” “Our team is passionate about the work they do and it is them that enable Fulton Hogan to achieve award winning results for our clients.” Our guardrail team has many years’ experience within the industry installing various systems.
