Andrew and Rachel Chuter started ARC Security in 2004, with the aim of providing quality security services and great customer service at competitive prices. Andrew says the security industry is contin- uously advancing with emerging technologies bringing more and more options to the end user. “Back in the day we used to use video tapes, now it’s all hard drives and controlling security systems through apps on your phone.” ARC Security runs the one of largest teams of fully licensed and trained security tech- nicians in Northland, offering unparalleled support and professionalism. With clients including government agencies, hospitals, large commercial and industrial sites, schools, kindergartens, and medium to N ational Hawke’s Bay-based security solutions firm HSM Security now has a state-of-the-art management centre in Hastings, from which to operate its multi disciplined security teams and encompassing range of security services. HSM CEO Matt Stevenson says when he first got into security, HSM was competing with some big, American-owned firms which were eventually broken up into different divisions and sold. Today the firm still competes with the big boys, and its new management team has set itself an aggressive goal of doubling its turnover in the next 30 months. HSM’s new premises is intended to serve its ambitious expansion plans. At 800sqm, the new facility offers double the space of its two previous properties. A self contained and spacious comms room, home to the monitor- ing team, is one of only two such centres in small businesses as well as residential prop- erties, ARC Security can custom design a state of the art system that meets both budgets and requirements. “From the latest technology in CCTV and wireless alarm systems to full access control systems, ARC Security has you, your family, and your business covered.” Andrew takes particular care to keep up to date with industry advancements and prior to Covid has been a regular visitor to internation- al security trade shows. “I always try to be innovative and bring things that people haven’t seen before. ”These events are now being held virtually, so we can still see all the latest and greatest innovations and bring these to our custom- ers.” ARC Security is proud to be part of the Whangarei community and to be able to sup- port Northland in its security requirements. “Northland is a great place to live and work,” Andrew says. “There is a great sense of community spirit here. Whangarei is a great town.” Likewise ARC Security recognises the good works of local community groups by providing sponsorship over the years to Kamo Rugby Club, Whangarei Boys High School, and the Taniwha Supporters Club. New Zealand to gain an A1 grading under New Zealand and Australian standards, qualifying it to provide a high-level service for clients with top security needs. The rest of the facility features the latest in office furniture including stand up desks, breakout areas with soundproofed zones for meetings, new training facilities, and an awe- some cafe area with outdoor space. “We’ve got everything to make a great place to work,” Matt says. “It’s material stuff, but for us it’s about showing our staff we value them and the job they do. Everything they touch, feel, and use has quality, and that makes a differ- ence for them and is beneficial for us.” Another reason for building a stand-out facility is to facilitate HSM’s growth targets by attracting discerning new staff, not just to the the company, but to the region.
