112 | Hosch – the CNC cutting masters It is unlikely anyone in New Zealand does CNC cutting Like Auckland company Hosch and they have the machine to prove it. Based in Wairau Valley, last year Hosch invested in an Italian manufactured $600,000 Sasso Next Jet highperformance CNC cutting machine designed to substantially increase production capacity and efficiency CNC stands for computer numerical control, a computer controlled router that is typically used for cutting materials, such as stone, composites, metals, plastics, glass, and foams. The Sasso Next Jet is a multi-tooling machine with five axis technology and can cut with a blade, a 60,000psi water-jet or completely automated milling and finger bits on a large range of kitchen counter tops and various hard surfaces. Hosch owner Horst Schosser has more than 20 years in the installation industry of stone, large format and exclusive high-end projects and his company offers CNC cutting to product designers, architectures, manufacturers and trades, as well as individuals. The size of the machine, which covers about 60 square metres and it's multi-tool capability creates considerable efficiencies while optimising the yield when cutting materials such as porcelain, ceramics, engineered stone, sheetmetal, decorative steel and others. Hosch is supported by a team of five, including operations manager Josh Pancho who operates the Next Jet. He has a university qualification in design and more than 12 years experience in the cabinet, furniture and bench top industry. Before purchasing the Next Jet, Hosch outsourced this work and central to decision to purchase it was its capability and efficiency, as well as being the newest and best available, Horst says. “Others would utilise two machines plus hand polishing to achieve what the machine all does in one sitting. On each job you are saving at least two hours.” “Whether you’re a cabinet maker, signwriter or bench top fabricator needing help with workload overflow, we’re here to help. With industryleading software, we can cut to any specific design requirementst. ”Hosch provides a full design service using a client's ideas, sketches or images that can be created into a digital format and fabricated into reality. From this bench tops, splashbacks, vanities, shower bases, coping tile/stone and much more can be made for function or decoration or to have designs incorporated in various ways. The ability to line-produce custommade coping and mitred tiles is unique to New Zealand and eliminates the need for people to import the equivalent products The Next Jet can line-produce with absolute consistency as well as creating highly specialised one-off designs and, while the technology incorporated in it is amazing, the software that operates it is equally revolutionary.
