REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Providing water for the local community is a role that Carlyle Drillers takes very seriously. Keeping farmers’ animals watered, food growing in the heat of summer and local parks lourishing is just some of the uses for the water Carlyle Drilling unlocks frombeneath the earth. “Water is elusive,” says company director Jodie Carlyle. “Carlyle Drilling is one of the longest established companies in the Bay of Plenty region, and also operates nationwide. Our track record is one of the best in the business. Nomatter the size or complexity of the job we know that our well drillers can inish on time, on budget, and with excellent results.” It’s the knowledge built up over three generations that has seen Carlyle Drillers the go-to company for water in the region. Based in Te Puke, the company was started by the grandfather of Jodie’s husband Mark. The machinery, skills and experiences that have been handed down to Mark and all contribute to the solid reputation Carlyle Drilling has established since as far back as 1965. The company’s extensive bore database informs decisions and advice showing data over the company’s long history. “It gives us an idea of the depths you have to go to in certain areas, quality of water that can be found there etc. It’s a valuable broad knowledge base,” says Jodie who is in charge of administration, health and safety and all the myriad of other things that the successful business requires to operate. Projects include lifestyle block water More than just drilling drilling, drilling for hot water for under loor heating and swimming pools, irrigation bores and frost protection work for orchardists, water for stock supply and milking sheds for farmers and town supply projects for local councils, parks etc. It has completed two bores in Opotiki for Tirohanga Fruit Company and has twomore projects coming up for this client. Jodie says taking real pride in its work and placing customer satisfaction as the top priority is a key focus of Carlyle Drilling. This includes investing in the latest technology to ensure the best results. The company has a drill rotary rig and was one of the irst companies in New Zealand to utilise this technology, improving accuracy. Recently investment has beenmade in a Versa drill rig, which automates the process making it safer. A true passion for drilling sees Mark still working on site delivering results for clients. Son Marcus also works in the company part time and there are a small teamof other sta . Carlyle Drilling is a proudmember of the New Zealand Drilling Federation. “We recognise that water well drilling involves more than just drilling a hole in the ground and train our drillers accordingly. The knowledge required to identify aquifers as drilling progresses and other key water well skills are passed on from experienced team members to trainee drillers.
