38 | DEVELOPMENT Evo Holdings: Riversong Sue Russell Open spaces the key to Riversong Northland-based Evo Holdings, has been in the business of creating thoughtfully planned communities for many years now and through this experience has developed a niche product offering to those seeking a life-style close to, but not in a metropolitan area. Such is the case with Riversong, a planned 35ha residential subdivision, with 70 north-facing sections ranging in size from half to one acre. When the opportunity came to buy a long-established family farm, Evo Holdings seized it, knowing that the farm, located on Vinegar Hill Road, Kauri, near Whangarei, was full of promise. “Evo Holdings is a property development business that specialises in creating large-size section offerings for those seeking a semi-rural feel to their lifestyle. “We’ve completed similar projects in other parts of the country by purchasing a farm when it comes on the market,” Evo owner Baz Reiher explains. These special transition spaces, between rural and city, provide owners with the best of both worlds and in the case of Riversong, a very special community with shared recreational and open spaces to enjoy. When Business North spoke with Baz five of the 23 sections in Stage 1 had been sold. Evo Holdings contracts out all works including the earthmoving and civil works processes and engages consultants, Cato Bolam, to plan and manage the subdivision. “I have always had a vision that we’re not really about making sections, we make lifestyles. We make a complete environment and we aim with each of our developments that it has its own special character for residents to enjoy. A lot of thinking goes into placement of streets and open spaces.” When visiting Riversong’s website, built by local agency Bigfish, viewers are able to gain a sense of what that means. Walkways traverse past a pond. Roads are narrower with walking and cycle tracks strategically placed throughout. Normally all sections are sold before title, however Baz says the property market has changed considerably through the COVID period however because traditionally there’s a shortage of the sorts of sections Evo Holdings develops, he’s very confident that the project will proceed well. to page 40 Located on Vinegar Hill Road, Kauri, near Whangarei, the site for Riversong is full of promise.
