| 15 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Northland: United Civil Construction United Civil has been involved in many key projects throughout the Northland region. “Other existing programmes we are actively involved with in Northland include Mana in Mahi, Whakaahu Whakamua – Adult WorkReady Programme, Apprenticeship Boost, BCITO, MITO, Skillsorg and Connexis.” Shelley says a good example of what is possible in terms of progressing a career is with one of the company’s Project Managers who began working in Traffic Management. Through the combination of their own attitude/aptitude, United Civil’s support and external training, including a NZ Diploma in Civil Engineering at NorthTec, they proceeded to advance through the ranks to become a Project Manager. As a business where no two days are the same, United Civil gets involved in some ground-breaking projects, like the Ruakākā Energy Park, a 100MW battery storage system. The first stage of the energy park is the battery storage system (BESS). It will cover an area the size of two rugby fields and provide additional reserve power and resilience to the national grid. “It will accelerate the growth of renewable generation and support the transition to a net-zero economy by 2050. It’s a great example of how significant our projects can be. “We are big supporters of this wonderful region we’re based in. As much as possible we engage local businesses on our projects while over the years we have built strong and enduring relationships with clients.” Concrete Logistics For all commercial & civil concrete projects SERVICES OFFERED: Formwork Shotcrete Concrete Pumping Concrete Placing & Finishing Concrete Cutting CONTACT Ray 021 763 982 ray@concretelogistics.co.nz www.concretelogistics.co.nz
