BUILDING Award for extensive renovation T T Anne Boswell Tauranga-based Keam Construction has once again demonstrated its prowess in the building industry by winning a prestigious Gold Award at the Bay of Plenty House of the Year Awards. The award was given in recognition of an exceptional renovation project at Lake Rotoiti, which stands as a testament to the company’s dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail. The winning project was an extensive renovation of a large family holiday home, designed to accommodate over 40 people. This remarkable transformation includes 10 bedrooms, 10 private bathrooms, and 450 square metres of decking, all nestled within an expansive 1,184 square metre lodge-style retreat. The renovation is not only impressive in scale but also in its intricate design, featuring a cantilevered round deck that provides stunning views of Lake Rotoiti. Inside, the home is a harmonious blend of luxury and rustic charm; its natural timber finishes, including macrocarpa and dark oak beams and columns, are complemented by cedar and copper accents. The project also features custom-made bunk beds, a cinema, a wine cellar, a barn with climbing walls, a playground and a tennis court, making it a perfect retreat for large gatherings. The renovation was carefully executed over three years in two stages, ensuring that every detail met the high standards of both the homeowners and Keam Construction. Keam Construction is led by Hayden Keam, a fully licensed carpenter and project manager whose reputation for diligence, honesty and effective collaboration has made him a respected figure in the Bay of Plenty building community. For over a decade, Hayden and his team have been known for their ability to deliver high-quality, architecturally designed homes and renovations that exceed client expectations. What sets Keam Construction apart is their unique approach to project management. Unlike many other builders, Keam Construction focuses on one main project at a time, ensuring that each job receives undivided attention and meticulous care. Hayden himself is deeply involved in the day-to-day operations, often working on-site alongside his team to address any issues as they arise and ensure the smooth progression of each project. The company’s commitment to excellence is further underscored by its reliance on a carefully selected group of skilled sub-tradies and consultants, all of whom share Keam Construction’s dedication to quality. This focus on detail and collaboration has resulted in a business built largely on referrals, a clear indication of the satisfaction and trust they inspire in their clients. As a Licensed Building Practitioner and Registered Master Builder, Keam Construction ensures that all projects are completed to the highest standards, adhering to the New Zealand Code of Compliance. Clients can also take comfort in the 10-year Master Build Guarantee. Following their success at the Bay of Plenty House of the Year Awards, Keam Construction is set to compete in the national finals in November.
