REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT TITAN Containers “Our 2024 spot lights are to strengthen organisation and target setting, areas such as health and safety, structures and procedures around compliance systems, along with data access. “ TITAN Containers (NZ) is eyeing new opportunities and is well placed for future growth, according to manager hannah Grant. Grant, who oversees the container sales and rentals operations and development of the business on these shores for the Danish-based company, says she’s keen to seize business opportunities to grow market share and particularly gain traction serving the lower North Island. “This year has been trucking along quite nicely. We have had some recent restructuring of the company with a new CFO and new CEO appointed. This has prompted a few changes to enable us to be best positioned to take on more business,” Hannah says. Included in the changes is, what Hannah describes as a fantastic new intranet for the team to use. “Our 2024 spot lights are to strengthen organisation and target setting, areas such as health and safety, structures and procedures around compliance systems, along with data access. We’re looking at digitising our operations to increase efficiency and uptake.” Hannah has been with the company since April 2015, hand-picked for the role, given her understanding of the industry. Head office in New Zealand is based in Mangere, however a number of satelite depots serve other regions, including Christchurch and Blenheim, where two independent self-storage facilities exist. Just over the ditch, TITAN Containers also has a Australian operation which Hannah says faces unique challenges the New Zealand operation doesn’t, given the size and scale of that country. Hannah says the company is always looking for opportunities it can grow in, however it is intent upon sticking to its core business and she sees room for TITAN Containers to grow its market share. The company’s two main depots are located in Auckland and Christchurch. Christchurch, the move to a new site was prompted by growth and the need to future-proof that operation. “Operating in the container services sector, it is an industry that allows company’s to come in at quite a low entry level. However, to do business well at scale, requires considerable investment in terms of land, machinery and equipment.” Above all, Hannah understands that what distinguishes one company from another is the quality of service delivered consistently. “And this comes down to having great communication lines set up with customers.” To ensure that TITAN Containers delivers the best possible quality of service, every customer is surveyed for their genuine feedback on their experience from first contact. “Even if we’ve lost their business we want to know what factors influenced their decision. It’s a really important quality assurance process we value and appreciate our customers providing us with.” Business is split between sales and rentals, with a good mixture of commercial and ‘Mum and Dad’ customers. With the expansion and upgrade of roading links through the lower North Island Hannah says she’s looking for ways to bring TITAN Containers more fully into that region. “There are always challenges but that’s what I most enjoy about this role. No two days are the same and I have a great team working with me. “We’re very confident that the due diligence we’re putting into how we operate now will pay dividends in years to come.” Protective Paints are proudly 100% New Zealand owned and operated and have been since opening in 1968.
