The group has now grown to comprise sites in Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland, and employs 500 team members nationwide. “We make CLT products that can be used in floors, walls, lift shafts, stairs, bracing elements and roof systems,” Jason says. “That means a much lighter building with less concrete and steel used in the construction, and the building itself becomes a carbon sequesterer. “Additionally, CLT components significantly speed up the building process, because they have the ability to install 300-450m2 an hour off the crane, with significantly fewer transportation movements. “CLT typically gets 30-plus panels onto a truck, versus precast concrete that might ship only one or two panels per delivery. “So instead of having buildings that are pumping carbon emissions into the atmosphere, we create a negative carbon balance to help offset the carbon in the rest of the building,” he says. Red Stag’s ability to integrate all CLT, glue-laminated timber, light timber frames and trusses, and even ancillary steel and fixings into one manufacturing digital model, and then manufacture and supply these products through its Rotorua, Auckland and Hamilton plants, significantly simplifies the supply chain, reduces the risks for clients and improves the cost position for timber buildings. www.checkmate.co.nz Proud to support Red Stag Investments with quality Sharpening and Saw Supply!
