CONTRACTING EAS Waikato Developing a strongly supportive team culture complemented with an unyielding focus on delivering quality solutions have been the key measures of success throughout Electrical and Automation Solutions’ (EAS) decade long journey of growth. Based in Hamilton, EAS was founded in 2014 by Carey Penn who had been working at Fonterra for 10 years and wanted to take his passion for developing high quality electrical and automation solutions to a wider customer base. While the dairy industry remains a key focus for EAS, the company has expanded into a broader range of sectors including councils, the energy sector, pharmaceutical and transport companies. Offering innovative end-to-end turn-key solutions for their client’s electrical and automation needs, EAS has progressively evolved to a team of twenty with staff qualified in mechanical, electrical equipment in hazardous areas, thermography, gas detection, working in confined spaces, working at heights and many more, ensuring they are ready to take on any challenge a customer may have. It’s the strong relationships and trust we’ve built with our customers, suppliers that we believe are a key to EAS’ success.” As EAS celebrates its tenth anniversary, Sarah says it is the team culture that the company is particularly proud of, highlighted by their win of the inaugural Waikato Chamber of Commerce People and Culture Award in 2022. “Our culture is based upon that fundamental care of the team. Our mission is to invest in our people’s personal, professional and financial wellbeing as if they were family. “As such we have a number of activities that support this including, Carey meeting with each team member every six months to talk about their personal and professional goals and how EAS can support them to achieve these. Our whole team gets behind recognising the contribution everyone makes, giving weekly shout outs to their peers. The team also enjoys quality time away from work, with four team days a year where the business closes down for the day and heads off on an adventure. Having people who share the company’s values and commitment to quality and delivering for our customers is absolutely key to the success of EAS.” The EAS team is also committed so supporting their wider community. Each year it offers learning opportunities for both University and high school students to experience working with EAS. While Hamilton is still home to EAS, they have begun to expand their services into other regions to meet their customer’s needs. It is this continued growth of both locations and services which will be the focus for EAS as it heads into its next decade in business.
