Their 11-strong skilled and growing team use their experience and specialist knowledge to deliver superior outcomes for Magna’s many customers, whether that’s for a commercial or civil project, or a complex residential project. The team is equipped to do patios, pool surrounds, driveways, blockwork, timber retaining walls, house slabs, commercial slabs and foundations, tilt up construction, in-situ concrete construction, landscaping and more. “Our core promise to our customers is that we always do what we say we’re going to do and manage our workflow responsibly to ensure we are not over-committed,” says Jerem. Magna offers a friendly, approachable service, with Jerem and Jordan dedicated to encouraging a workplace culture where everyone – including customers - feel like family. Jerem’s wife Julie contributes to the inclusive team culture, managing Magna’s office/administration. “We like to have a big social get together twice a year with our staff and their partners and kids, so we all know each other,” says Jerem. “Our focus is on building a team of professional all-rounders. For those who may be interested in working with us, we welcome enquiries not just from concrete hands but also keen carpenters and builders who are willing to learn new skills and see the other side of structures.” Magna Concrete & Construction offers a full range of services including planning and design to create a construction or landscaping plan in line with individual project requirements. Their one-stop, turn-key approach means that all projects that come to them are in safe hands, whether Magna is on board as head contractor or as an expert sub-contractor. Their team is proud to be playing a key role on work to transform Tauranga city’s waterfront. A number of projects are underway there including a new $5 million waterfront playground that will include climbing and sliding equipment, a nature play zone, an elevated pathway emulating the Milky Way, a water play zone with troughs and water pumps, rock walls and mega swings. Magna will be completing the foundations, hardscaping, project management and coordination of the playground installation, with the project now getting underway. “We’ve been given some free rein in this exciting project. For example, while there is a concept for the kids’ water play area, it is up to us to tweak the design and make the end product as cool as possible.” Magna is also involved with various commercial developments in the Bay of Plenty. For example, Magna is currently working on a warehouse project in Papamoa with a three-bed apartment on the first floor. “This is for a private client and the project is nearing completion. We have completed and handed over the precast and in-situ concrete structure to the fit-out builder.” Another recent commercial project saw the Magna team build a new in-situ retaining wall and ramp on behalf of Legacy Construction for Woolworths, Cameron Road, Tauranga. Residential foundation projects that border on commercial level complexity are no problem for the Magna team. “We enjoy the challenge of tricky, complex jobs and provide engineered solutions. We still love getting stuck into a flat slab, but structural concrete works is what gets us going!” A good recent example of this is on Grace Avenue in Tauranga, where Magna Concrete & Construction is installing concrete beam foundations on a large, high end residential build for Hartstone Homes. Magna has a real community focus, with the team recently helping a local playcentre (Pongakawa) with a playground refurbishment. Magna also sponsored the recent Lights Out Fight Series, an event supporting Waipuna Hospice in Tauranga. “That went very well, it was a fantastic night and was great to raise awareness for the hospice.” Magna Concrete & Construction is involved with various commercial developments in the Bay of Plenty.
