CONSTRUCTION Waikato based foundation specialist Bomax Construction Ltd is on a mission – a mission to remove all remove unnecessary stress for its clients by handling every aspect of the foundation-laying process. The company, which specialises in foundations and concrete slabs, was founded in 2012 when Kelly and Donna Max reconnected with old friend Damien Bowden after returning from a stint in London. With both Kelly and Damien being Licensed Building Practitioners specialising in carpentry, they saw an opportunity to go into business together, initially operating as a labour-only company focusing on residential house construction. However, a few years in they identified a niche market for foundation work. Recognising the challenges involved in building foundations, Bomax developed streamlined systems and processes to simplify the task and alleviate stress for its clients. A total of 11 staff make up the Bomax team, including Directors Kelly, Damien and Donna, two fully qualified builders, four foundation specialists, one labourer (in the process of completing a foundation course), and one administration person. With the experienced team well-equipped to take on any foundation related task, Bomax aims to alleviate its clients’ stress by managing every detail of the foundation-laying process. Once Bomax takes on a job, it coordinates directly with plumbers, the council, and engineers to prepare the foundation before pouring. After receiving approval from the council and engineers, it organises subcontractors, including concrete pump operators (in Bomax’s case, Empire Concrete Pumps), concrete layers and concrete cutters. “We collaborate with the best in the industry and maintain strong relationships with our subcontractors,” Donna Max says. “It’s a significant team effort to deliver a seamless foundation from start to finish and working with these guys makes all the difference. “We take pride in our work, and take on the most challenging conditions to give our customers a solid foundation for their building projects.” Donna says they are very fortunate to work alongside many reputable and loyal clients spanning the Waikato building sector including Pragma, Classic Builders, Tamahere Country Club, Matamata Country Club, Downey Designer Homes, Sentinel and RPS. “We also have independent builders who use us to do the foundations for their builds,” she says. “Bomax does mostly residential homes, aged care facilities and light commercial foundations. We have also been involved with several of our clients doing Kainga Ora houses throughout Waikato.” For Damien, Kelly and Donna, their team remains at the heart of the business. “The most important part of our business is our team,” Donna says. “Foundations are very hard work: you have no protection from the elements, year round, and the team works with heavy and difficult materials. Creating a solid foundation for a project is an important process to get right. “We fully support our guys and encourage them to get their BCITO Foundation Construction certificate. To date we have four people who have completed this course. “We wouldn’t be who we are without our guys. We are very lucky to have such a great group of people to work with.” admin@filokreto.com FilokretoNZ www.filokreto.com Filokreto - Concrete specialists proudly serving the Waikato.
