T he marina industry is “hugely buoyant” in the wake of Covid-19 and Warkworth based stainless steel manufacturer Dix- on has been busy keeping up with demand, says company director Jane Warren. “Marinas around New Zealand are needing to undertake maintenance due to age and we’ve grown in response,” she explains. Dixon manufacture the Dixon branded range of marine related products including boarding ladders, handrails, bait boards and a gas hob toaster together with products spe- cifically related for marina use such as dinghy racks, dock carts, cleats and safety ladders. Dixon also design and manufacture a range of components for marinas for refurbishment, new builds and additions from pile guides, walkway supports cleats, access gangways and handrails, emergency equipment storage and many other items. All products are made at the company’s manufacturing facility from high quality 316 marine grade stainless steel. Jane says that Dixon’s history of producing the best and most durable products available has made it the go-to company for the marina industry and boaties in general. Dixon is associate members of the New Zea- land Marina Operators Association and Jane serves on the board of HERA. The company is also members of the Sustainable Steel Council and New Zealand Stainless Steel Development Association. Its skill has seen Dixon work on most mari- nas around the country over the years includ- ing at Westhaven, Queenstown, Hobsonville, Bayswater and Far North. A recent project was manufacturing and installing security gates at Gulf Harbour Marina. Karen Phelps Jane operates Dixon with partner Andrew Wilkes and they took over the company in 2006 from the original owner Neil Dixon. The Dixon range has been sold worldwide for over 30 years and is recognised both in New Zealand and around the world as high quality, durable products and the couple has endeavoured to continue to grow this reputation. Keeping things local has been a key factor in the company’s success and is a member of “Buy New Zealand Made”. Jane says remaining in Warkworth, where all the goods are manufactured, has been an important factor in ensuring the continued high quality and so earning the trust that Kiwi manufactured goods enjoy all over the world. “We retain the flexibility of a small company that can produce custom items to suit any project but also have the capability to man- ufacture production runs of any number of items. We are also now a recognised member of the New Zealand story and licensed to use the Fernmark logo,” she says. The company’s products and services are used by a diverse range of industries and include KAG safety handrails and healthcare products, Vibra-Stop engine mounting sys- tems and stainless steel dome caps. Services include bending and rolling, CNC machining, design and fabrication, water cutting and welding. Jane says that the company’s team offers a diverse skillset, which enables it to undertake a variety of projects for clients. The company offers a lifetime warranty on all the Dixon branded products that it produces. “Our objective is, and always will be, to con- tinue to ensure the high level of quality Dixon is renowned for around the world.”
