Liberty has been operating in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato for nearly three years but Don has been providing survey services to the civil construction industry for more than 30. He’s worked as a sub-contractor to earthworks and drainage irms both here and in Canada for the past 15 years, and before that spent several years working with industry experts in the United Kingdom and Australia. “At Liberty Survey Solutions we pride ourselves on providing accu- rate, timely survey services to a huge array of projects,” Don says. Liberty recently teamed up again with one of the irst drainage compa- nies it worked for in New Zealand, Waioatahi Contracting - a large Bay of Plenty company providing quarry- ing, excavation, transport and sheet-piling services – to tackle a storm-retention pond for the Tauran- ga City Council. "Waiotahi are a great growing family business in the Bay of Plenty, and it has been exciting to be a part of their development," Don says. Don’s wife and business partner, Chrissy St Amant, says working with such companies results in becoming “part of the whānau.“ “For us it’s more than just provid- ing a basic service: we want to understand what the crews on-site are dealing with and how we can be a part of making their processes better,” Chrissy says. “We see knowledge sharing in both directions as the best way to develop and build trust in the industry.” Aside from her administrative roles Chrissy is also leading the company’s new drone programme, building on the services that Liberty Survey Solutions provides and allowing the irm to o er more to their agriculture, engineering and construction clients.
