The team at Supreme Precision Castings are deeply passionate about the work they do for their customers, and that’s what makes the difference. Dedication and commitment to doing an exceptional job encompassing the disciplines of metallurgy, mechanical design and manufacturing processes comes together to deliver a high value product — and that is why the company is trusted by an ever growing domestic and global customer base. “It’s a focus on making a quality product, listening to the customers’ requirements, offering informed advice around manufacturability and metallurgical aspects of the project, understanding and being very good at making investment castings,” says General Manager Lewis Reid. “We make investment castings used by the end-customer as an integral part of their product. From mining implements through to medical products, our IP is how to make a casting that meets the customer’s requirements, improves the product, and is commercially viable.” All products are made at their foundry located in Otahuhu. Since establishment in 1984, Supreme Precision Castings’ diverse customer base has spread from New Zealand to Australia, Singapore, the United States and Europe, with exports making up two thirds of what the company manufactures. “We provide investment castings to OEM manufacturers,” says Lewis. “With a casting you have the ability to optimise a design, eliminate unwanted weight while integrating the functional features of a fabricated part using materials that might not otherwise be possible in a fabricated or machined item. A casting enables you to design without compromising on materials, form or efficiency, while improving performance and reducing cost.” Supreme Precision Castings process capability includes investment (lost wax) casting in a variety of steels and alloys at its Auckland foundry; rapid prototyping: castings from machined foam; castings from 3D prints; component assembly and sub-assemblies; heat treatment; surface treatments and coatings; solid modelling, finite element analysis and design verification; design for manufacturability and assembly; full metallographical and mechanical testing, and full certification and verification traceability. “People come to us with a design for their project and we translate that to an investment casting, offering design enhancements to improve manufacturability and better material selection. For example, we supply Petromac with a particular stainless steel alloy casting carrying instrumentation deep underground, which has the mechanical strength to do the job while being resistant to the extreme environment it is exposed to. So our scope is really about productionisation of an idea into a piece of metal reality that is functional, useable and meets with the designers requirements.” Passion and precision OUR WORKFORCE INCLUDES SPECIALISTS IN: Metal casting | Metallurgy | Materials and mechanical engineering Design, particularly optimisation from a fabricated to cast product | Toolmaking Machining | Prototype manufacture - 3D printed and machined foam 27 Kaka Street, Favona, Auckland 2024, New Zealand Phone: (64) 9 276 5335 | sales@spcl.co.nz World-class investment castings (also known as lost wax) at competitive prices from our modern investment casting foundry in Auckland, New Zealand.
