| 59 MANUFACTURING NZ Manufacturing CrystechNZ is now the main supplier of honey extraction and processing equipment to the honey industry, above; right, Alpine Tubs manufactures cedar clad, stainless steel lined wood and gas fired hot tubs. business year-on-year for the last three years. “Alpine Tubs manufactures cedar clad, stainless steel lined wood and gas fired hot tubs for residential and accommodation providers. “The concept is that you fill the tubs with fresh water and heat them up when you want to use them. “Looking to the future the idea is to expand that business to include a wider range of high-end outdoor residential furniture, using the skills and abilities that we have across the company.” While all three brands are available throughout New Zealand, CrystechNZ prod- ucts are also supplied into Australia. “We have ambitions to develop that product range further afield. “Alpine Tubs is also only supplied in New Zealand at this stage but we have plans to move that into Australia in the next year or two, and then possibly further afield.” Mat says the multiple brands have been a key to NZ Manufacturing’s success. If one of the brands is not so busy, the general rule is that the other two will pick up the pace. “That’s how we manage to maintain a good work stream and that’s why we have three quite diverse businesses. “As we add more businesses in the future that will further dilute the risk of business downturns.” A passionate supporter of ‘Kiwi made’ and local industry, Mat says the dollars spent locally stay in the country where they belong and don’t head overseas for products that can be made locally. “I don’t believe there’s much of a cost difference these days and generally things manufactured in New Zealand are made from slightly heavier and more durable products, which is what we try to do in every build. “We try to go up a gauge in material and prefer to build thing heavy rather that light.” Mat reflects that it is the people who work for NZ Manufacturing and the suppliers that are key to making the difference for the business. “Without a good team and suppliers we cannot offer our customers a quality product at a fair price and in a good time frame.” 50 Cryers Rd, East Tamaki Auckland, NZ P. 09 274 4906 E. sales@tubebending.co.nz www.tubebending.co.nz OVER 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE FORMING TUBE AND PIPE.
