Company managing director Ben Tomason was given the award for the Mokau Marae rebuild in Whangarei. The original Mokau Marae burnt down in 2013 and Griffiths & Associates approached the Ngātiwai Trust Board to see if it could support the rebuild. Ben says that the complex project faced many challenges and had to be undertaken in five stages. Funding constraints meant it took seven years to complete. He says facilitating a close relationship between Holyoake Construction, the main contractor, and the client was vital as the project involved a high level of trust: “This relationship of trust enabled flexibili- ty and timely decision making allowing supe- rior alternatives and cost saving measures to be explored with a focus on best for project outcomes.” Ben says the Griffiths & Associates team was proud to be instrumental in the success of the project. The company was closely involved throughout including assisting the client with the complexities of funding applications, the project costing and the build itself.
