82 | DEVELOPMENT McConnell Property to page 0 Urgent need for live zoned land from page 81 Mainly concentrating on Auckland, this has seen McConnell Property increasingly looking to the outskirts of the city where larger tracts of land are available. The company is developing 4ha of land at Takanini, which will deliver 106 lots to the market and on a similar size project in Mill- dale. It is also developing, as well as construct- ing, Teal on Orakei Basin, a four level 26-apart- ment project that is under construction. Matt says Teal is a boutique apartment complex offering one, two and three-bedroom apartments, and penthouse suites. Nestled on a unique promontory site at the end of Purewa Road, Meadowbank the luxury apart- ments enjoy stunning water and green valley views. Although Teal on Orakei Basin is a little outside the company’s main focus Matt says the land was irresistible. “If you look at other cities around the world they all have suburban apartments on trans- port routes. Teal on Orakei Basin is opposite the Meadowbank train station and just two stops from Britomart. It’s gone unbelievably well. We put it on the market right early 2020 it’s nearly sold out. Sustainability is a big focus for McConnell Property and it incorporates a variety of economic, social, cultural and environmental factors into its developments, says Matt. “Today sustainability is the expected norm and might involve designs that use less energy and produce less waste and generally pushing the boundaries to achieve healthier, safer buildings that enhance the local culture and environment,” he says. “We always aim to build places that people love - places that endure and become valuable in every sense of the term.” McConnell Property was established in 1997 by Malcolm and Beverley McConnell and is still owned by the McConnell family with sons David and John being directors. Matt says family heritage as well as being upfront at all times is what the company has become known for. “In all our partnerships we operate from a place of shared understanding on all the crucial factors – vision, deliverables, risks and rewards.” He says McConnell Property is always look- ing for good people to work with on projects, particularly those that might be sitting on land. It focuses primarily on sites that yield a minimum of 100 lots but will consider central locations for boutique projects such as Teal on Orakei Basin “Auckland is projected to reach a population of more than 2.4 million by 2047. Currently it is anticipated that capacity for up to 400,000 new dwellings is needed to meet that growth. “A growing population, an ageing popu- lation and increased immigration once the borders reopen mean the underlying funda- mentals driving the need for more housing haven’t changed and McConnell Property will continue to deliver the land Auckland needs to accommodate its population growth.” “We always aim to build places that people love - places that endure and become valuable in every sense of the term.” • Pavement Recycling • Pavement and Subgrade Stabilisation • Fill Drying • Lime , Cement and KOBM Stabilisation • Rural and Residential Driveways • Earthworks • Concrete • Services Installation • Street scape projects • Road Construction and Maintenance • All aspects of residential & Industrial subdivisions Phone: 09 427 6301 email: admin@gideon.co.nz 71 Forge Road, Silverdale Contact us today: During our years of operation, Gideon Contractors have gained a reputation for service & reliability.
