Business North October 2022

102 | Teeing off at Te Arai Te Arai Links, which is just over an hour drive North of Auckland, is set to become a major tourist drawcard. from page 100 COMMUNITY Te Arai Links South Development Work is about to start on the North Clubhouse and a second more upmarket restaurant. The course is close to, Tara Iti, a private 18-hole course designed by Tom Doak that opened in 2015. Tom has also designed a north course at Te Arai Links, which has just been completed and sown with grass seeds that take 12 months to produce a beautiful course, and is due to open October 2023. It has about 1100 yards of coastline next to the ocean but most of this course is inland through forest and sand hills. “All the courses are distinct and offer players unique experiences,” says Jim. He predicts Te Arai Links, which is just over an hour drive North of Auckland, will be a big tourist drawcard, popular in particular with the Australian and North American markets. There will be significant jobs created and spin-off effects. Tara Iti already directly employs around 100 staff and Te Arai Links is due to employ approximately 150-200 people. Jim says this doesn’t even include caddies or third party contractors. “I think the big thing here is that it’s a 36 hole world class golf resort in Te Arai with the two best living golf course architects designing it. It will be a big part of the community going forward and the opportunities will be amazing. “As far as a tourism product it will be the most talked about product in New Zealand I think for many years. Te Arai Links is golf as it was destined to be.” Warkworth based Coresteel North Harbour Ltd is completing their 3rd project at Te Arai Links golf club, South of Mangawhai. Having completed the 1000sqm Water Treatment Shed and 1450sqm Maintenance Shed, they are now working on the new Housekeeping Shed. Previously, Coresteel North Harbour Ltd have completed the Pump Shed, Laundry facility and Helicopter Hangar for the same developer at Tara Iti. The continuity of builds demonstrates the versatility of the Coresteel Buildings product, says Andrew Boyd owner of Coresteel Kaipara, Rodney and North Harbour. “We are known for delivering bespoke design and build solutions for commercial/industrial buildings through to lifestyle sheds. We cater to a diverse range of clients with current builds including an equestrian arena canopy and breweries.” Coresteel Buildings o ers two exclusive steel structural systems. The patented Bracketless Portal System, constructed using cold formed lat Z450 galvanised coil, o ers typical clear spans that range from 9m to 30m, with no obtrusive knee or apex braces. It is ideal for smaller projects. DonoBeam allows building possibilities to be further expanded. It is a tapered box beam manufactured by welding two folded halves of steel plate together to form a box. Andrew says Coresteel: on time and on budget it’s speci ically tapered to minimise the amount of steel needed for any given design, without reducing structural integrity. Andrew and Julie are backed by a team of building professionals with years of experience in steel construction. All product is engineered in New Zealand and fabricated in Whangarei using steel from NZ Steel. “We are committed to delivering our clients’ their ideal building.
