General Manager, Brendon Hewett says Greenhill Park is a fine example of what can be achieved with careful consideration to quality of life for those buying homes in a greenfield development. “We’ve focussed on medium density housing and creating an environment which welcomes young and old and families of all shapes and sizes to enjoy all the special spaces we’ve developed,” says Brendon. With a combination of high quality land development and a covenant process applying to all homes built, the aim has not been to create a homogenous settlement, but rather to ensure that each home built sits comfortably within its neighbourhood. It is the vision of Jon Webb – Director of Chedworth Properties bolstered by urban design and planning experts who Brendon says have been pivotal in expressing the values Chedworth Properties want Greenhill Park to reflect. Future stages include some areas marked for higher density, industrial and commercial activity. Careful thought has been put into the use of space and ensuring residents have easy access to shared recreational areas, walking/ cycling pathways. Road widths have been, for the most part, kept narrower than would be found in suburban streets to enable a shared sense of commuter spaces. The final development will see over 1800 new homes built. Greenhill Park’s location, just minutes from the CBD makes it an attractive prospect for buyers looking for a place to call home. “It’s easy access to the city, but also the new Waikato Expressway which has greatly improved travel times to Auckland, Tauranga and Taupo.” Chedworth Properties has evolved strong relationships with preferred building partners who purchase the majority of the sites that come up for sale. Brendon says the benefit with this is that they have been building homes now for many years in the precinct and understand the land and the values guiding the quality of the entire subdivision. A number of sites are also sold to individuals looking to build their own home, and Brendon thinks it is great seeing people’s visions and dreams come to life. The next stages of the development are well underway, and while Covid has had some impact, with careful planning far enough ahead Brendon says the disruptions have been minimal and, most importantly, they have managed to have all the materials secured for the next 12 months of construction. Asked what most attracts Brendon to his work he says simply it is the quality of relationships with the project team and the real sense of community that is being created by the residents of Greenhill Park as each stage unfolds. “We’ve developed really nice features within the park and I think that what we’re witnessing is the outcome of the best possible way to plan a community.” “The more houses in the park the stronger the community gets. We’ve developed really nice features within the park and I think that what we’re witnessing is the outcome of the best possible way to plan a community.” And something that is really nice is that beyond the brick and mortar of a growing subdivision Greenhill Park feels very much like a community, with its own facebook page dedicated to its residents. “They’re the type of community that looks out for each other. ”
