Cleaner air, energy savings and reduced environmental impact is what the Atlas Copco oil-free screw air compressors deliver. Ideal for industries where high-quality oil-free air is key, the ZR/ZT series o ers the highest reliability and safety in combination with Class-0 risk. With oil-free compressed air a prerequisite for the continuity and quality of many manufacturing processes, over the past decades Atlas Copco has pioneered the development of oil-free rotary tooth technology, resulting in a full range of highly reliable compressors delivering 100% oil-free, clean air. The ZR/ZT series incorporates a range of advanced technologies including the unique rotary tooth element, which increases e iciency thanks to two-stage compression. As no venting of the pressure element is required, the energy consumption is considerably lower compared to single stage compression systems. With its symmetrical and dynamically balanced design, the double tooth element ensures an increased free air delivery and delivers consistent performance over time. As over 80% of a compressor's lifecycle cost is taken up by the energy it consumes - much more than the initial investment in compressors or maintenance and upkeep - and the generation of compressed air can account for more than 40% of a plant's total electricity bill the savings can be signi icant. Energy costs are reduced through Atlas Copco's variable speed drive 100%oil-free, clean air with Atlas Copco technology, which closely follows the air demand by automatically adjusting the motor speed. The outcome is average energy savings attains 35%, just one way that oil-free air compressors can contribute to greener production. Generating and consuming compressed air is much more expensive than other utilities. It is estimated that 10% of all energy consumed by the industrial sector is used for compressed air so businesses who zero in on energy consumption when looking for compressed air savings stand to gain signi icantly. It’s no surprise then that more companies are increasingly choosing oil-free air compressors and the ZR/ZT series is being used with great result by clients such as Fonterra Kauri in Whangarei. World-leading provider of industrial productivity solutions Atlas Copco has been operating in New Zealand since 1953, successfully serving the compressed air and gas equipment needs of clients. Its products help customers to achieve sustainable productivity in a wide range of markets, including general engineering, manufacturing and process industries, construction, automotive, electronics, oil and gas, and much more. Atlas Copco o ers a large team of factory-trained technicians as well as well-stocked parts distribution centres in order to provide clients with local on-site service, no matter their location, so problems can be diagnosed promptly and ixed just as quick, ensuring the best possible production uptime. www.atlascopco.com Fonterra’s Kauri site has taken out the Best Medium Site trophy at Fonterra’s annual Best Site Cup Awards for the second year in a row. Kauri Site Operations Manager Rowan Hartigan says it’s a huge accolade, especially as the team has had to navigate the challenging pandemic environment and still managed to come out on top. The site also won the award given for quality and was runner up in the productivity category. “Our grading, performance and quality last season saw us win this through a genuine team effort in the mix of Covid and everything else going on at the moment,” says Rowan. “Winning this award for two years in a row is uncommon so for the site to hold onto that this year as well is a fantastic effort.” He says that the Kauri site has a great reputation and has had that for many years with legacy leaders that started the site’s journey with its motto being ‘awesome place, awesome people’. “You need to keep work enjoyable and relevant to the needs and wants of staff. Empowering people to do their best every day is important. Because people are on shift together for 12 hours at a time they tend to become friends both inside and outside of work, as it’s not a typical nine to five job. We’re a big employer in the north and people respect that. They feel safe and secure in what they do and enjoy it.”
