An essential part of Green Star building is ensuring good ventilation delivers a lot more fresh air into buildings which not only in these global pandemic times reduces the risk of Covid but is good for brain function and feeling alert. “Another Green Star building on Fanshawe Street had 200% greater flow of outside air into the building than required by the building code. That is great for health and well-being,” says Andrew. He’s confident that awareness of things like energy efficiency and fresh air intake is on the increase as people start to notice how different they feel when they’re spending time in a Green Star build compared to more traditional builds. He’s heard of clients already starting to ask about air quality, and he believes they’ll increasingly be demanding these kinds of comfort and health-friendly conditions from their employers, landlords or educational institutions. Ultimately New Zealand’s building stock will benefit as well as those making use of them. “We believe that looking after what’s indoors, helps look after the great New Zealand outdoors, and provide a clean, healthy and happy legacy for our future generations”
