SM Sustainability is at the heart of everything that Signature Floors does. The latest initiative is circul8 - Signature Floors’ local carpet tile recycling initiative in Australia. This has seen a market-leading recycling machine based at the Melbourne facility so when Signature Floors carpet tiles have reached the end of their life they can be returned as part of the company’s product stewardship. “Returned tiles are first assessed and ultimately reused or recycled through a process of rejuvenation and yarn regeneration. It’s part of our on-going commitment to closing the loop and creating a circular economy,” explains Signature Floors New Zealand general manager Richard Slade. As further proof that sustainable practices underpin everything Signature Floors does it has a Greenrate™ level A certification from Global Greentag™. Signature Floors also promotes material transparency with Declare labels while actively increasing its products’ recycled content. “There is a lot of ‘green washing’ in the marketplace but with Signature Floors, every single tile we produce is third-party verified to the best level achievable. This gives specifiers and end users the reassurance they are using a truly sustainable product.” He says it also enables building owners to achieve maximum credibility for their overall Green Star rating building score, which in turn helps them to attract tenants as demand for sustainable commercial space is rising. A good example is Signature Floors’ work for Argosy Property’s office building at 105 Carlton Gore Road in Auckland. In this project, a range of Signature Floors products were used including Pixel Static carpet tiles, a locally stocked product. Featuring SDN fibres, carpet tiles look colour rich and are available in 30 playful colours. “As a multi-level loop flooring solution, Pixel Static carpet tiles are robust, hardwearing and can easily withstand high traffic. These industrial carpet tiles are also exceptionally resistant to soiling, staining, crushing and wear. Pixel Static offers the perfect solution for those looking for a combination of style and functionality for their commercial project.” With colour coming to the fore as a trend, Signature Floors also offers a staggering 202 colours in its Vivid 202 range. “Colour transforms spaces, places, even people. And, often, it creates an impact that’s profound and distinctly personal, sometimes, even magical. Vivid 202 carpet tiles offer a kaleidoscope of colours, flexibility and freedom of choice.” But sustainability extends beyond the products themselves and as evidence Richard says that all the electricity for the Melbourne Signature Floors facility is generated via solar panels. It’s a part of Signature Floors overriding drive towards carbon neutrality. SUSTAINABILITY AND STYLE
