| 95 BUILDING Genxhomes BOP Service and quality underpin success Sue Russell Genxhomes BOP has a strong presence in the market. Shane Lye and Jo-anna Van Lye own and operate Genxhomes BOP, a business they have developed over the past 15 years within the very competitive Bay of Plenty building industry. The current show-home and office is located at 1/336 Ocean Beach Road, Mt Maunganui however in November, the team will relocate to their new architectural show home at 8 Montiicola Drive, Palm Springs. Being an independently owned, mid-sized residential building company, Genxhomes has succeeded in the BOP for several reasons. “Our clients receive excellent customer service from the entire Genx team” explains Jo. “We are there with them throughout the entire build process and particularly in the planning stages, it is important that they can get answers to their questions. It makes for a strong working relationship and very positive outcomes for all”. Along with Shane and Jo-anna, the core Genx team is comprised of office manager, construction supervisor and 5 builders all of which are supported by their preferred suppliers with Oregon ITM being their most long-standing. Following the first Covid lockdown in 2020, Shane made the decision to extend the Genxhomes catchment area to include the Central Plateau region. Since extending their build area to encompass Cambridge through to Taupo, Genxhomes has already built many homes in Taupo’s Nga Roto Estate where House and Land packages of varying land sizes are readily available. Shane and Jo feel that that one key to their success has been ensuring all business relationships such as with Oregon ITM are very solid. It certainly helps to maintain good communication, a pro-active management style and forward planning. “We pride ourselves on having an awesome team at Genxhomes with a strong work ethic and a build process which includes online project updates for each of our clients”. In Palm Springs, Genxhomes currently has one House & Land package left to sell as well as a 280sqm designer show home (due for completion in November) and a large architectural, dual-living home (soon to be built). In Taupo there are 6 Genx designed House & Land packages available now with a further 2 Design/Build options for those clients wanting to be involved in the design process from the get-go. While Shane is engaged in the overall running of the business, Jo’s skills are in colour and product selection and she will arrange a comprehensive consultation for all Genxhomes Design/Build clients. “We also specialize in residential renovations and bathroom makeovers. Many clients love their current location but need our advice and design skills to update, extend and improve functionality”. Proudly Master Builders, Shane is on the Executive Committee of the Tauranga Master Builders Association and has often found himself mentoring younger builders especially those who need assistance with strategic planning. Both Shane and Jo-anna are avid sports people, and work hard to maintain a good work/life balance. Shane has been a competitive triathlete for over 35 years and they both enjoy mountain biking, beach walks and hiking. Giving back to the community by supporting health and wellbeing is also important to Shane and Jo with Genxhomes being a regular sponsor of Triathlon events in the Bay of Plenty. “We also plan to do the same in Taupo, now that Genxhomes is becoming more established there. It’s a way of contributing to a sport we’re passionate about and helping young and promising athletes achieve their goals.”
