96 | they like working with us. That serves us well, especially in challenging times,” he says. Align Group is currently working on a variety of projects. It is nearing completion of a 600sqm engineering workshop and office fit-out for Claymark Sawmills in Katikati and is about to start a 700sqm processing facility for Bakels Edible Oils in Mount Maunganui. It also undertakes shop fit-outs and has completed projects for Cakery in Bethlehem and Harvey Furnishings in Tauranga. Align Group also has residential projects underway – both spec homes and builds for clients in Papamoa including Palm Springs and Summerset. Matt says Align Group has purchased additional land in these subdivisions and will offer more spec homes to the market shortly. BUILDING Align Group Rebrand reflects wider focus Karen Phelps Align Group’s Matt Dagg says its main areas of focus are now commercial, industrial, fit-outs and residential. Align Group (formerly DMG Construction) has undergone a re-brand to reflect the wider focus of its business. Based in Papamoa the company is seeing increased demand across the board for its services, says Matt Dagg who joined forces with Simon Thurston to create Align Group. “While our history has been in the residential realm, by re-branding and hiring new staff with a commercial skillset we are positioning ourselves to be key players in the commercial market also. “Our main areas of focus are now commercial, industrial, fit-outs and residential. We are excited by this change as we feel our new name better reflects where we are as a business. We are positioned well for growth and have a strong foundation of skills and experience to offer our clients, both existing and new.” Demonstrating the company’s ability to deliver large-scale projects, a current project underway is a 13-lot development in Te Puke for a developer client. Align Group is building all the homes, which comprise stand-alone houses of 130-140sqm on lots of 350-400sqm. Matt says the three bedroom homes, clad in brick and weatherboard, have been popular with first homebuyers and have delivered much-needed affordable homes to the market. Located at Queen Palms Road, the site is a two-minute walk into town making for an extremely convenient location. Align Group is more than halfway through the build, has already handed over five houses and is due to complete the project later this year. 2022 has certainly not been without its challenges for the building industry and it’s been no different for Align Group. Material and labour shortages have both impacted projects but Matt says the company has continued to deliver a quality product due to the experience of the team and a tenacious attitude. He says it has been a great opportunity for Align Group to build a good fundamental base for the business to springboard from so it is poised and ready for even more growth. Align Group was founded by Matt, a qualified builder with international construction experience, and Simon, an electrician and carpenter with over 30 years international industry expertise. They are supported by a small, dedicated team, which includes office personnel and the company’s own team of builders. Matt says that by employing their own builders this safeguards quality and ensures client satisfaction. He also credits a great team of subcontractors and suppliers, which have been worth their weight in gold this year. “We have built really solid relationships with subtrades, developers and local businesses. At Align Group it’s about the people. We like working with the people we work with and “While our history has been in the residential realm, by re-branding and hiring new staff with a commercial skillset we are positioning ourselves to be key players in the commercial market also.“ Residential and Light Commercial Bricks, Blocks and Feature Work Proud to be associated with Align Group Cell: 021 783 618 Email: eddie@brillbricklaying.co.nz
