20 | Ōmokoroa Country Club Karen Phelps Ōmokoroa - a rarity in retirement living All villas are designed by renowned New Zealand architects Warren and Mahoney, featuring state-of-the-art designer kitchens. REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT The Ōmokoroa Country Club is set to unveil the design of its world-leading health spa and wellness centre. “We’re a third of the way through the development in terms of sales, which has meant we’ve been able to accelerate the development of other facilities,” explains Ray Webber, sales manager for the project. The $270 million luxury resort-style retirement village is set on 17 hectares in the rolling landscape of the Ōmokoroa Peninsula. The multi-million-dollar health spa and wellness centre, scheduled for completion by mid-2026, will feature two alpine saunas, indoor heated swimming pools, spa facilities, a full bar and lounge, library and al fresco areas. Following the completion of the wellness centre, the main clubhouse will get underway and will feature arts and craft rooms, a boutique movie theatre, a virtual golf experience with indoor golf driving ranges, meeting rooms, a library, and dance floors. Ray says great attention has also been paid to the landscaping, pathways and planting in the village with a nod to the rural/coastal environment top of mind. The village’s unique selling proposition lies in its exclusive offering of standalone villas, a rarity in New Zealand’s retirement village market, says Ray. He says this ensures residents enjoy both privacy and spaciousness. All villas are designed by renowned New Zealand architects Warren and Mahoney, featuring state-of-the-art designer kitchens, media rooms, walk-in pantries, beautifully appointed ensuites with underfloor heating, spacious outdoor living areas and double garages with ample storage. The luxury standard is evident throughout, with Italian imported brick and Canadian cedar cladding used in construction and even the smallest villa spanning 166sqm.. The village offers a continuum of care approach, with respite care, rest home care and dementia care facilities planned for the future. Ray says this comprehensive model allows residents to age in place with confidence. Location adds significant appeal to the development. Positioned just 20 minutes north of Tauranga on the sought-after Ōmokoroa Peninsula, means residents can enjoy flat sandy beaches, pohutukawa-lined promenades and sparkling harbour vistas. The peninsula’s growth is creating additional convenience with a new town centre under development within 600 metres of the site. This multi-purpose hub will include cafes, restaurants, supermarket, medical facilities, a cinema and retail spaces. The development is already attracting residents, with 11 villas currently occupied and a further 18 to be occupied by year’s end. Ray says early resident feedback has exceeded expectations, with many expressing the wish they had made the move sooner. “Residents are loving the village, and feedback has really blown us away. They are really settled and love being in a family-owned club that gives them direct access to the owners,” says Ray. Developed by family-owned Sanderson Group, the village embodies the company’s philosophy that ‘If it’s not good enough for our family, it’s not good enough for yours’. Ray says this family ownership creates direct access between residents and owners, fostering a genuine community environment. Upon completion, Ōmokoroa Country Club will feature 170 standalone villas, approximately 50 apartments and an 80-bed dementia-friendly care facility, establishing itself as one of New Zealand’s premier luxury retirement destinations. “Ōmokoroa Country Club makes no compromises on its promise to deliver quality,” says Ray. “Convenience, luxury and wellbeing set the tone for life in our village. “Whether residents are in the mood to dine and dance, exercise or to treat themselves to a relaxing massage, everything they need for resort-style living will be right here on their doorstep. “The combination of premium facilities, family ownership and an enviable coastal location positions Ōmokoroa Country Club to attract discerning retirees from across the North Island seeking the ultimate in luxury retirement living.” AluminiumWindows and Doors | Residential Series Metro Series | APL Architectural Series | ThermalHeart+® Email: info@alitech.co.nz, Phone: 07 863 9091 Website: www.alitech.co.nz Showroom: 35 Victoria Street, Waihi 3610 Hamilton showroom by appointment only. 100% kiwi Plumbing World is a co-operative, 100% owned by Kiwi plumbers and builders.
