We thrive on nding the best answer to complex, technical problems”. The company is working on its rst signi cant project for the New Zealand market peer reviewing the engineering design for the Auckland central interceptor project working alongside Arup. NOMA is working on the Sydney Metro, Melbourne Metro and the relocation of the Sha Tin Sewage Caverns – Access Tunnel Construction in Hong Kong demonstrating its global reach. This international experience allows NOMA to make suggestions for potential improvements on the central interceptor project, which Andreas hopes will speed up project timelines and save overall project costs. “There are always optimisation opportunities that can be identi ed on a project. The biggest cost is always labour in countries like New Zealand so anything NOMA - Expertise and Experience that can be done to reduce project timelines adds considerable value. “All of our engineers have a solid understanding of multiple design disciplines and believe in the importance of working closely with all teams on a project. This allows everyone to fully understand each other’s requirements and optimises the design outcome.” Andreas, who had previously worked for a number of consultancy rms, started NOMA Consulting in 2010. Andreas says that he wanted to create an engineering company that o ered a di erent kind of service, one that focused on engineering excellence and puts the client rst. One result of this has been that NOMA only employs professionals who are truly inspired by engineering, who want to make a di erence when it comes to nding the best economical solution to complex, technical problems and have a track record of working well together on global projects. “All of our engineers have worked on large, global scale projects and witnessed rst-hand how quickly project scopes and costs can increase because of unforeseen complexities, unexpected ground conditions or lack of experience. “We would never embark on a design without a detailed understanding of the anticipated geology, the project requirements and objectives. That’s why we have a track record of on-time and on-budget delivery of projects,” explains Andreas citing one example of how NOMA’s professional sta add value. NOMA works on a variety of projects focusing on mined mechanised and cut and cover tunnels and shafts o ering varied services including geotechnical engineering, geological assistance, numerical modelling, settlement analysis and impact assessment. NOMA also o ers construction site support and instrumentation and monitoring assessment. NOMA has o ces in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hong Kong and Singapore. Andreas has his sights set on further expansion across the globe, particularly in Europe, but not for the sake of growth but rather because he says that clients can be best served through a number of o ces at strategic locations. “We want to continue to work with clients where we can provide true value, deliver outstanding engineering design and unrivalled customer service.”
