Undertaken by the Steffert family and managed by Steffert Property the 11ha project aims to create a thriving business hub in the Waikato region, says company managing director Chris Steffert. Stage one of the project is nearing completion with a projected finish of later this year. What began as Steffert family farmland has evolved into a business park that will deliver 19 industrial sections, ranging from 2500sqm to 8000sqm. Chris says the response from the market has been strong with 13 sites already sold through word-of-mouth referrals. “The project fills a crucial need, as the Waikato region faces a real shortage of industrial land,” he says. “And Morrinsville’s strategic location places it in close proximity to nearby markets while the town itself experiences steady growth.” Looking ahead Steffert Property has set its sights on Stage 2 of the Avenue Business Park, which will introduce another 13 hectares of industrial land to the market, building on the success of Stage 1. Currently this is in the planning stages and a plan change has been submitted to the council. Chris has been the driving force behind the Avenue Business Park’s success. With over 15 years of experience in the property sector and learnings from industry leaders like Greenstone Group and Stark Property, Chris has honed his expertise in diverse projects, from hotels and office buildings to residential apartments and land development. Alongside Chris, partner Sarah Hogan is a shareholder of the company and takes on the administrative side of the business including account management, quoting jobs and keeping track of projects. Chris’ brother Kieran round out the family team and plays a vital role in supporting projects with his knowledge of the agricultural industry and practical expertise. Chris says that Steffert Property prides itself on being a family-based company, driven by a desire to have a positive impact on the built environment. An example of this is the Anzac Avenue Townhouses, a collaboration with Kainga Ora to provide much-needed social housing in Morrinsville. The project involved site acquisition, demolition of existing structures, and the construction of seven new dwellings. Working in partnership with AHS Group, Steffert Property managed the entire project cycle, delivering excellent outcomes for all involved, says Chris. Beyond its own projects Steffert Property offers property consultancy services to businesses, helping them execute their property strategies and projects.
