| 27 Avenue Developments The Avenue Business Park aims to create a thriving business hub in the Waikato region. DEVELOPMENT Strong technical and planning understanding coupled with a positive environmental focus all came together to successfully deliver The Avenues project in Morrinsville. Tektus, an engineering, environmental and planning solutions consultancy, helped move the project forward after it had stalled for around a decade due to stormwater challenges, says one of Tektus’ directors Jack Turner. “It was Tektus’ core value of responsive understanding that was particularly important on the project. With a compassionate approach we seek to deeply understand the underlying dynamics and intricacies of projects to achieve lasting and sustainable outcomes,” he explains. “Stormwater was a challenge, so we had to work hard to understand the various constraints the two councils were concerned with. We applied our technical knowledge to help work through and resolve those challenges with the aim of achieving positive outcomes for both the councils and the development. Collaboration is a cornerstone of the Tektus approach, balancing the competing interests of ecology, design and technology.” Tektus has provided civil engineering design services for the green ields ten-hectare industrial subdivision since 2018, assisting the client to gain resource consent for the development as well as engineering approval, with work starting at the end of 2022. Jack says the project is progressing well and the release of the irst block of lots is due later this year. Tektus is now monitoring the construction and ensuring that what’s being built is as per design and in accordance with relevant standards.
