With an extensive fleet, the company has a truck to suit every need. Regardless of the shape or size of the job, Les Harrison Transport has a reputation for providing professional solutions to help move it anytime and anywhere. Founder Les Harrison is committed to supporting his team and ensuring they deliver the highest standard of work. The company employs around 170 people, including drivers, devanning crew, yard workers, maintenance staff (four mechanics and an engineer) and office/administration staff. “Over the years, we’ve had guys straight from school who have started out working in the yard and devanning containers before slowly working up to driving forklifts and getting their car licences,” says Les. “They need to be 18 before they can get their Class 2 truck licence. My own boys have done that and now my 16-year-old grandson is going through that process too; he’s got his forklift licence and Class 1 car licence. He already has a good grounding in it having grown up around trucks!” Devanning is an ideal starting role in transport as it gives people experience in unloading containers, tying and unloading curtain siders before progressing to forklifts and then driving curtain siders.
