The visionary project, a collaboration between Generation Homes and the Kawerau District Council, offers comfort, community and convenience for those aged 60 and above, says Tania Humberstone, the Communications and Engagement-Residential Development Manager at Kawerau District Council. Construction of the Porritt Glade Lifestyle Village concluded in April and a completion ceremony and open day were held at the end of July. “The community has been behind the project and supported it. Council has had long term vision and it’s exciting to be able to deliver the completed project,” she says. “We were very pleased to see the response, largely from locals but also people living slightly outside the boundary.” Typical of most small towns Kawerau has a fairly large aging population, she says. “The whole concept of this project was to provide really good quality new but affordable accommodation while simultaneously freeing up the family homes people were living in for homebuyers and it’s been a success on both levels.” T T to page 88 07 345 5156 design@azero.nz azero.nz Laser Plumbing Mt. Daldy has served Auckland, for half of that time as a charter and excursion vessel, serving the Auckland public. COVID didn’t just mean no more sailing, but no more volunteer maintenance crew either. It’s meant that parts of our long-term maintenance and preservation plan had to be deferred, and we urgently now need to get that back on track and meet compliance requirements to continue to serve Auckland. If you’re able, please consider using Givealittle to throw the William C. Daldy a lifeline. Help raise the money needed to keep the ship in steam. Contact: info@daldy.co.nz.
