The location of Whai Mauri Ora was carefully chosen, situated a few kilometres west of Te Awamutu. Occupying over 13 hectares of prime land, Whai Mauri Ora has been meticulously designed to mirror the aspirations and needs of its future residents. Key design outcomes emphasise a connection to the natural landscape through a public shared pathway along the western boundary enhancing the sense of harmony between nature and the community. The name Whai Mauri Ora was gifted to Arvida by Ngāti Apakura and means ‘in pursuit of wellbeing’. Dino says it ties perfectly to Arvida’s Living Well philosophy, which focuses on every aspect of good health and wellbeing. The journey to create Whai Mauri Ora began with Arvida’s acquisition of the site in 2021, and shortly thereafter, master planning started.
