Cain Built Ltd BUILDING From the day he was able, Tim Cain was trying to construct things. Beginning with wooden blocks then progressing to Lego, followed by a hammer, nails, and wood, it wasn’t unusual to find Tim helping his father Gary to build things around the house, or quietly supervising the extension being done to the family bungalow at the tender age of four. As the years progressed, Tim’s curiosity and passion for building grew. Beginning his apprenticeship with Wayne Jensen at SCD Builders, Tim was placed in the care of three builders, who between them had more than 80 years of experience in the industry. “I couldn’t have asked for better people to learn from,” he says. “Each offered different areas of expertise and I soaked up their knowledge like a sponge.” Furthering his career and serving the remainder of his apprenticeship with William Ryder from Ryder Construction, Tim’s learning was taken to new heights with William’s meticulous attention to detail. Tim went on to become one of Ryder Construction’s leading hands and after five and a half years, he left to further develop his skills with Bridgens and Thomson, where he remained until starting his own business, Cain Built, in 2014. “The road to becoming a builder hasn’t always been a walk in the park, but often the road to the best things in life isn’t,” Tim says. “As a result, I have determination in spades, and will work through any challenges to achieve my goals.” Over the past 10 years, Cain Built has nearly seen it all, working on renovations, top-end new builds, alterations, extensions, re-clads, re-builds, and commercial work, and this wide scope of works has given the Cain Built team a competitive edge. Tim says selecting a builder can make or break the realisation of any construction dream, and requires thorough research and thoughtful consideration. “Talk to a few builders and find one you can build rapport with and feel comfortable having in your house. While financial considerations are undoubtedly important, they should not overshadow the outcome you are looking for. Weigh up what your builder has to offer as a complete package, because often the real value is in the overall service given - quality craftsmanship, knowledge and skill, transparent communication and good project management. A partnership based on mutual respect and understanding will ultimately result in the home you’ve always envisioned.” To get optimal outcomes, the best time to contact a builder is before you start designing your home. A builder’s input and a draw on their experience provides valuable insights that can help clients make informed decisions, such as which materials to use, which layout will work best for their needs, and Tim and the Cain Built team will often spot things on plans that other people miss, and can offer solutions and new ideas to reduce costs to make the most of their budget. ”The foundation of a successful project is built on trust and communication. It’s important to find a builder who will listen to your needs, understand your vision for your home, and work with you to achieve it. A good contractor should be able to provide references from past clients and a detailed estimate of the cost of your project. Embarking on the journey of building a new house or renovation requires a builder you can trust.” 022 156 0800 | neil@nortonglass.co.nz | www.nortonglass.co.nz JOHN 021 916 759 johnquickfix@gmail.com We’re proud to support Cain Built Ltd Concrete Flooring + Foundations FOUNDATIONS AND CONCRETE SPECIALISTS Budget to High Spec.
