Stonewood Homes Rodney BUILDING Liz and John Mole opened Stonewood Homes Rodney in May last year and have enjoyed the experience of establishing strong relationships with clients and suppliers alike, in a region boasting strong growth projections. Their patch covers Wakworth, where their showroom is based, Wellsford to Te Arai, Matakana to Snells Beach. The couple, who spent many years working overseas, chose Stonewood for good reasons, as Liz explains. “It was their positive reputation in the market place, head office support and a genuine sense of pride amongst the franchisees around the country. Stonewood’s standard specs are really high and help give that wow to their designs. They also have a wonderful array of well thought out plans and amazing technology to begin a design conversation with clients,” Liz says. Similarly, while providing advice, the head office team also encourage feedback from franchisees experiencing their particular market, so there’s a strong thread of collaborative support working to and fro that, Liz says, underpins the brand’s reputation in a competitive market. “It’s great with the range of plans, we can show clients who are beginning to decide what they want in their home. These designs are a well laid out starting point and always, clients will adapt and personalise them to their lifestyle wishes. Being involved from the beginning enables us to really connect with our clients and what is important to them, whether it be a more eco friendly design or a home and income – it’s so much fun to see it all come together” With a full motorway system linking Auckland’s North Shore to Warkworth, the journey time for people living in one area and working in another has been substantially reduced. Liz explains that plenty of time is afforded to the design phase, with the use of some sophisticated smart computer intelligence in the mix. “When clients look at one of our plans, we’re able to manipulate it, in terms of ceiling height, roof line, where walls are situated, cladding options, and each time an element is introduced they can see immediately the building cost implications. It’s a really good way to start to bring clarity and transaprency into what is most important to them.” That degree of interactivity the ‘home-i’ system has is what makes the design process fun and engaging. The completely 3D programme gives clients a real sense of being inside the space and moving through it. Alternatively, if a client has their own plan from something they have seen and liked, that information can be put into the programme and changes made accordingly. “It’s a service we offer that has no cost, or commitment from clients expected. We just find it works really well and opens up great conversations. It’s quite amazing when they come in with a paper drawing and we can turn that into a really engaging experience for them.” The design studio is based at the Warkworth showroom which offers clients the opportunity to view all the different samples of fixtures and fittings available. But the service offering goes further than that. Stonewood Homes Rodney, can assist clients with subdividing their own land, knockdown rebuilds, design and full planning stages support, through to Council resource and building consents. “We also make sure that through a build, the owners have plenty of opportunity to celebrate milestones achieved. I’m involved from start to finish and clients can visit to see progress on site. We want them to be engaged because its a big exciting thing they are doing.” Stonewood Homes – Rodney, has 5 projects on the go, at various stages of planning and build and several in the pipeline. The plan is that, over time, other family members will come into the business, facilitating a transition in ownership and responsibilities in time. “John and I have always run our own business and, so far, we’ve been thrilled with how business is going in this wonderful part of the country to operate in.
