Along with an adjacent reserve, the Town Centre will be completed in about two years and feature a supermarket, gym, food and beverage, and health centre. “ T T to page20 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Bordering the suburbs of Millwater and Silverdale within the Hibiscus Coast, and launched in 2019, Milldale offers so much more than a residential development — it’s a vibrant suburban community that offers a coastal lifestyle and modern amenities. Part of the wider Orewa community, there is an abundance of existing amenities right on the doorstep, with new ones every year adding to the region’s richness. Nearby there are primary schools and colleges, and of course the coastal lifestyle offers beaches, estuary walks and cycle tracks, boat ramps, surf, and the Orewa Surf Lifesaving Club. There is Silverdale Mall with dozens of stores, restaurants, supermarkets, and big box offerings like The Warehouse, Farmers, Briscoes, and Rebel Sports. Right next door Highgate Business Park’s offerings include Mitre 10, and Mighty Ape. For those enjoying a round of golf, the Wainui Gold Club, and Northridge Golf Resort offers choice and opportunity for those passionate about their stroll around the tees. Currently, two entry/exits from SH1 make Auckland CBD just 30 minutes away, and Orewa just 5 minutes. However, Highgate Bridge which is due for completion later this year runs from Milldale to Highgate and will provide a third access point and a direct link to the commercial areas that significantly reduced the journey time. But it is what lies within Milldale that creates that rich community spirit. The first of several Neighbourhood Centres will open in September. With views out across Waterloo Reserve, the complex is just a short walk from Ahutoetoe Primary School and Summerset Retirement Village, and will include takeaway bars, cafes, a wine bar, sushi bar and gym. Brandmad Director and marketing consultant for Milldale Warren Frogley, says Milldale residents will be able to walk from anywhere in the development to a nearby neighbourhood centre. “That is all about convenience and community. Complementing the neighbourhood centres will be the Milldale Town Centre on the main road. Along with an adjacent reserve, the Town Centre will be completed in about two years and feature a supermarket, gym, food and beverage, and health centre. “Milldale also has two early education centres and the Primary School, with the development of a secondary school in Milldale North to be built in about five years. There is a Summerset Retirement Village, which is currently being built in stages and will eventually have 220 homes, with a number of homes already built.” A Fulton Hogan Land Development (FHLD) project, Milldale encompasses about 300 hectares, plus an additional land purchase of 190 hectares on the northern side of Wainui Rd, where the secondary school is to be sited. “Milldale’s original configuration was the development of 4500 homes, and a population of 15,000 over ten years,” says Warren. “The additional land will increase that to over 5000 homes in due course. The vision is to provide a range of housing options to suit all lifestyles, from young professionals, families of all sizes, retirees and investors, with a wide range of section sizes that accommodate stand-alone houses, terraced homes and apartments. “With packages starting from $1 million there is something for every budget and every lifestyle. We are now at stage 5, with stage 6 selling soon. We are nearly a third way through with about 1500 homes completed so far.”
