T T to page 36 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Downer’s regional hub in Northland services the local communities in Kaipara and Whangarei providing essential water services for two different councils. For Kaipara they manage all three waters, namely drinking water, wastewater and stormwater; while for Whangarei their responsibility lies solely with their potable or drinkable water. The Northland Water Services team is part of Downer’s Energy and Utilities business unit which is an integrated trans-Tasman team charged with designing, building, operating and maintaining the essential networks and infrastructure people need to live their everyday lives;. Whether it’s turning on a light (energy), making a phone call (telecommunications), having a shower (water) or driving to the shops (roading). The water contracts the Northland Water Services team holds with the councils means it cares for the networks that enable people to complete everyday activities, such as pouring a glass of fresh water, boiling the kettle, or flushing the loo. Day-to-day management of the contracts that means the community can seamlessly continue to do these things. The services provided include both routine and reactive maintenance. tmnz half page print ready.indd 1 ɐ30
