F & H Works BUILDING F & H Works has created considerable credibility through strong business relationships, innovative products and its highly professional approach in the height safety sector. The company employs a team of 15 which includes installers of roof access, safety and bird netting systems, and recertifications of structures and equipment. Health, safety and communications coordinator Simone Abrams says F & H Works are proud contactors and installers of Monkeytoe, Moddex, Salus Safety, Alta Safety and Insol products and systems. “Our managing partners have worked really hard to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our clients.” Once one of these companies has assessed a site and created a design, it contracts F & H Works to undertake the full installation of the equipment specified. “This collaboration means F & H Works can meet every need and application for roof, ceiling and building access and the installation of fall protection systems to ensure safety when working at heights.” “Most of our work involves working at heights installing platforms and walkways, access ladders, access hatches and fall protection systems.” Its static line systems come equipped with a specialized traveller (connector), allowing users to move freely across the line without the need to unhook and re-hook at every intermediate support point. F & H Works innovative designs and solutions are changing the way companies perform high-risk jobs, reducing risky tasks to low-risk or no-risk situations. The training and skills of F & H Works installers is intrinsic to everything it does, Simone says. “We pride ourselves on really high standards; we really put a lot of effort and time into our installers. “We are a small company but we do a lot of in-house training. We make sure our staff are 110% competent and confident in doing what they need to do.” F & H Works is proud to hold SiteWise Gold certification, and has maintained this status. Being a SiteWise contractor requires completing an annual health and safety assessment to grade a company’s capabilities. The grade is then entered into a database that can be viewed by main contractors and principal organisations. A gold grading means a contractor has achieved a grade of 90% or above on its annual assessment. F & H Works has achieved a 100% grading from SiteWise since 2022 A key service is undertaking inspections and recertifications of systems and structures. “We recertify all height safety systems and equipment. These recertifications should be done on an annual basis to make sure they are still compliant and fit for purpose. We then issue a recertification certificate to our clients These inspections and recertifications include workers personal protection equipment such as harnesses and lanyards. F & H Works has been involved in many major projects across Auckland and Waikato. Its team installed equipment for Maersk’s new cold storage facility in Ruakura, Hamilton as a subcontractor to Monkeytoe, and is currently providing its services to Auckland’s high-rise Indigo Hotel. “That is a very intense health and safety project with regards to being suspended from a crane, putting in a rail system at the top of the building and that is eye level with Sky Tower.” Ports of Auckland was another. “We have just finished installing all the handrailings around; the port’s entire area has been reinstated with brand new aluminium handrails whereas before it was just a wooden rail with a chain.” F & H Works is looking forward to its growth and future in the height safety industry and recently started a new venture that also focuses on height safety. “F & H Drone Wash Solutions is our solution to commercial building washing using drone technology that eliminates the risk of personnel working at heights.”
