That working relationship has continued to flourish with the two companies helping out on each other’s projects, and very importantly in the fencing industry, sharing labour to allow each company to provide for their clients in a timely manner. Staffing is a huge issue for both companies, and Simon says he just can’t find any young guys who are keen to give fencing a crack. “We’ve talked about growing the business but at the moment, it’s not worth doing because we can’t get any reliable staff to make it happen.” Therefore, Simon and Tim are sticking to a workload they can manage themselves, and developing their business in other ways. The new hydraulic wire dispensing and tensioning machine brings improved efficien- cies, large projects, and new customers, and the brothers are also working on their own profes- sional development. Clark Brothers Fencing is a member of Fencing Contractors New Zealand (FCNZ) and is now looking towards the associa- tion’s Certified Fencing Contractor qualification scheme, which is for members who have gained qualifi cations to back their certification.
