Richard Loader How wonderful it is to see a business recognised and rewarded for its determination to place the customer and customer service at the heart of its operations. Mid Canterbury based Catalyst Performance Agronomy was selected as Finalist in the Champion Customer Experience – Medium to Large Category, at the 2021 Westpac Champion Awards. Starting life as Wholesale Seeds in 2007, the business rebranded as Catalyst Performance Agronomy in May last year, a move that reflected the business’s evolution as a high level provider of agronomic services and products, focused on the pastoral sector. CEO Patrick Davis says that by definition ‘Catalyst’ is an agent to drive swift change or action and that is what the business has done in the pastoral sector. “Performance Agronomy is the term that we give to our agronomic process – Diagnose, Define, Deploy, Deliver and Debrief. Everything we do is based around the Performance Agronomy model.” Entering the prestigious and well-regarded awards provided an opportunity to raise the profile of the business, showcasing its evolution from a wholesale seed merchant. “The Customer Experience category really stood out as something our business could be successful in, because it’s about innovation in the customer space which is what our business is focused on. We have a very engaged workforce, focused on the customer. When you’re successful commercially you’re making money, so that’s great, and you’re being recognised by your customers. • to page 66
