Romdales and Suftex have been introduced in response to demand, along with Texel Perendales, of which around 80 are sold each year. “We will put up around 70 Romdales for sale this year and there is growing demand,” explains Morgan. “They give quietness and a bit more wool. We believe wool is still a great product.” Environmental care is another defining thread running through the France family story. Morgan’s interest began young. Twenty years ago, while still at school, he planted natives around the farm’s duck pond, trees that now stand fully established. “I did a lot of tramping when I was young with Mum which has given me a real respect for nature,” says Morgan. He continues to run a native nursery, established when he was 12, and is focusing on fencing off gullies and deer paddocks to expand riparian planting. His partner, Ruby Herron, works three days as a preschool teacher and supports the farm while raising their children, five-year-old Harry and ninemonth-old Brea. This year marks another milestone as Longview enters the 2026 Ballance Farm Awards, echoing the commitment shown when Morgan’s parents entered more than a decade ago.
