Kelly Deeks RURAL SERVICES » Hinton Contracting T he Hinton family began contracting in the Stratford area in the 1930s, growing from hay and silage contracting into all the support services needed on farm, and today’s fifth genera- tion, Daniel Hinton and Sheridan Standen, are now looking into how Hinton Contracting can assist its clients with their environmental compliance. “The future for our business is around mak- ing sure our key services, hay, silage, and grass harvesting, are looked after,” Daniel says. “We want to make sure we are at the forefront of that industry. Then as effluent pond compliance becomes a bigger focus for Central Taranaki farm- ers, we are moving into the environmental side of things as well.” In her previous role, before she and Daniel bought Hinton Contracting from his parents two years ago, Sheridan was an environmental scientist, so brings a lot of transferable skills. Daniel has managed the effluent department of Hinton Con- tracting for many years, so the couple’s expertise in this area will see them develop quality environmen- tal compliance services.
