Daniel and Sheridan were able to seamlessly transfer into their ownership roles from manage- ment, having already formed good relationships with clients and staff. They continue to run Hinton Contracting the way it has always been run. “The business has been built on reliability and we want to ensure we continue with that,” Daniel says. “It has proven to be an efficient way to do business, it has allowed Hinton Contracting to grow and to build up a base of loyal clients.” The latest growth for Hinton Contracting comes from staff member Matthew Percy, who has bought his own 13 tonne digger and is now an owner driver for the company. The first digger in the Hinton Contracting fleet, this has allowed the company to expand its in-house services into effluent pond scraping, race work, and any other digger work required on farm. Matthew joins Hinton Contracting’s other owner driver Ian Smith (Smithy), who operates cultivation gear including a power harrow, rotary hoe, and discs. He also operates a drain cleaner and come harvest season, can be found raking.
