These strategic acquisitions align perfectly with Mahuta’s breeding philosophy. “We have a productive, fertile herd with days to calving way above the breed average. We consider calving ease and fertility to be amongst the most important traits for efficient beef production. Our herd reflects these values and we hope to pass them onto our clients,” says John. The stud will hold its next sale on 12 September, where it will present another selection of yearling bulls bred specifically for heifer mating. “We will be presenting another nice line-up of bulls for people to choose from,” says John. The genetics from the new acquisitions will become available to purchase from 2026, representing an exciting development for the stud’s clients.
