Whether for farms, lifestyle blocks, or residential properties, they focus on precision and cost-effective solutions tailored to each client’s needs. Founder and Director Luka Southcombe’s early experience fencing and working on farms during school holidays has proven invaluable in shaping his career. After initially pursuing farming, he transitioned to full-time fencing, working with a contractor for 18 months before establishing LS Rural Fencing five years ago. Since then, the business has continued to grow, completing projects throughout the Waikato and West Coast, from coastal farms to inland properties. As a member of the Fencing Contractors Association NZ, LS Rural Fencing specialises in a range of services including rural, residential and lifestyle services. The team also works extensively with dairy farmers, especially in winter, constructing livestock enclosures and maintaining existing fences. Dry stock clients make up a significant part of the workload, with occasional residential projects adding variety. While less frequent, residential fencing provides a refreshing change of pace for the team. Communication is a key priority for Luka and his team, ensuring clients are informed throughout each project and involved in any decision-making aspects. The company prides itself on a “do it once, do it right” approach, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and attention to detail. With more young people entering the fencing industry, Luka sees a bright future ahead. Organisations like the Fencing Contractors Association NZ continue to support and encourage new talent, ensuring a strong workforce.
