Kelly Deeks W aikato rural solutions provider McGregors Farm Services has achieved outstand- ing growth since Daniel and Aimee Peake took ownership of the business in 2017, which they attribute in part to the young team’s willingness to embrace the latest and greatest technologies and to deliver to their clients the best solutions available. At 37 years old, Daniel is the youngest licensed DeLaval dealer in New Zealand. He is a trained electrician, however spent the years leading to his purchase of McGregors Farm Services as a service technician for Waikato Pump Services, becoming an expert in water systems and milking plant. Daniel and Aimee set ambitious goals to grow McGregors Farm Services with a customer-focused service model. However the extent of growth they achieved has surprised even them. “We grew so fast that we started to let our clients down,” Daniel says. “We had to quickly find a balance between saying yes to everything and managing our customers’ expectations.” Daniel is now using the services of business advisor and Waikato Times columnist Brenda Wil- liamson who is helping him to make that transition from worker to business owner. Team numbers also grew rapidly and Daniel realised quickly that quality is better than quantity when it comes to McGregors Farm Services team members. “Traditionally DeLaval has its own technical team who advise farmers on the use of their new plant and equipment, however I’ve been able to bring that in-house.
