62 | RURAL SERVICES » East Coast Farm Vets “Being able to provide clients with a full service for farm animals and their working dogs has always been the goal for Wairoa and we are excited it is falling into place.” “Working dogs are an essential part of the farm team. Whether you are in Gisborne or Wairoa, your working dogs are in good hands,” says Cribby. Wairoa Farm Vets, established in June 2018, have grown from three staff members to seven. Recent additions to the Wairoa Farm Vets team include three vets, two mixed-animal and one small-animal veterinarian. They join Taylor, senior veterinarian to provide a formidable team. One of the drivers for the expanding Wairoa Farm Vets team is the setting up of a dedicated working dog clinic. “This has always been part of the plan,” Helen Taylor says. This process has involved adding on consult rooms, a surgical suite and kennels. They also offer state-of-the-art x-ray and other diagnostic modality facilities and will have access to specialist surgeons. From worming and vaccinations to surgery and nutritional advice, the Wairoa Farm Vets working dog clinic also provides full recovery care offering you and your working dog team a full on-site animal health service. The project work started at the beginning of 2021 with the aim of completing it by the end of the year. With a vet working in the clinic every day, a lot of these services are already on offer. “Being able to provide clients with a full service for farm animals and their working dogs has always been the goal for Wairoa and we are excited it is falling into place,” Helen says. East Coast and Wairoa Farm Vets are strong supporters of local community organisations and other groups. The collective philosophy is to try and support those who have supported them. “We would not be here without the support of our clients and the community,” says Cribby, “so if we can give back, then we will”.
